power of less
When The Will Is Ready
have been following the "take on a new skill" every year, for most of my adult life. While sometimes the new skill I 'm excited about January 1st, doesn't end up being the one I settle into by March, whatever I end up choosing, it usually turns out to be just the right thing. An exploration of contact dance superseded yoga one year, audio editing become more interesting than photography another, still no matter what, cumulatively acquiring the skills and experiences I am drawn to has allowed me to achieve both the work and lifestyle I have dreamed of.
A solid network of friends and family have definitely helped along the way, and they deserve due credit. Perhaps even higher powers have also contributed along my path. The level of synchronicity, the way a light has shone on certain choices has left me quite suspect of greater forces at play. Between challenge and opportunity, is a middle path of accomplishment, and the start of 2009 was another reaffirmation of such.
Riding in on the crest of so much new in my life, house, job, attitude, all in shift, I joined the Power of Less Challenge , and took on the jointly shared mandate and camaraderie of an online forum dedicated to new habit forming. This time rather than focusing on a acquiring a new skill, I decided it was now better to reform an old one. I wanted to go "next level" with my writng. I wanted to become more focused and productive. Ten minute's a day, which was all the challenge required, as well as some daily reporting seemed like a great way to ease into my new daily writing habit.
